The Sullivan Family of Companies is proud to bring The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® to Hawaii. The introduction of this new retail establishment continues the legacy of innovation begun by the founder of the Sullivan Family of Companies, the late Maurice J. “Sully” Sullivan. After founding Hawaii’s first supermarket in 1948, Sullivan opened more than 175 retail stores in Hawaii and abroad, from supermarkets, to hotel and gift boutique shops, to McDonald’s restaurants.
Collectively, Sullivan’s Foodland Super Market, Ltd., Food Pantry, Ltd., and Kalama Beach Corporation operate nearly 100 retail stores in the state of Hawaii, and over 40 on the U.S. mainland. A projected 15 The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® stores will open throughout Hawaii now through 2006, some of which will be inside a Foodland or Sack N Save store and others will be free standing locations.

Herbert B. Hyman started The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® in 1963 with a dedication to excellence and quality, and his efforts made him the founding father of gourmet coffee in California. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has since grown into one of the largest privately-owned, family-run coffee and tea companies in the world. It currently has more than 315 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Brunei, Indonesia, UAE, Kuwait, Israel, Australia, China,
Philippines and soon to be in Hawaii. The endurance and popularity of The Bean, as it is affectionately referred to by devotees, can be attributed to the high standards that were established from the beginning. From trend-setting drinks like the World Famous Ice Blended®, to the employees who become a part of the communities they work in, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has discovered the formula for a successful coffee and tea company. |
