The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf team members must always “wear” a positive attitude, a friendly face, great energy, un-flappable courtesy, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.
Each team member is a representative of our Company. They reflect our company culture, philosophies and standards. As such, team members are required to display a clean, tidy and well-kept appearance. Gum chewing is not allowed. Team members must ensure appropriate personal hygiene standards, including bathing, using deodorant, and keeping hands and fingernails clean and well-manicured and no longer than ˝” in length. As a special note, while we respect individuality, our team members should be aware of our belief that the workplace is not the forum to make a fashion statement, especially with body piercing and tattoos. Tattoos, facial body piercing, and hickeys must not be visible to our customers.
Team members are provided with specific clothing to maintain a consistent image of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Each member is required to wear Company-provided and/or approved clothing while working his/her shift and to maintain such clothing in a clean and presentable manner. The clothing includes:
Properly fitted Company-issued The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf shirts, tucked in with a belt at the waist.
Cotton, denim or corduroy pants in solid tan or black. Pants must fit properly, be clean and free of stains and wrinkles, with no tears or frayed hems. Spandex, nylon, leather, sweat pants or athletic pants are not allowed.
Cotton, denim or corduroy walking shorts in solid tan or black. Shorts must be no more than 4” above the knee, fit properly, be clean and free of stains and wrinkles, with no tears or frayed hems. Spandex, nylon, leather or athletic shorts are not allowed.
Women may wear cotton, denim or corduroy skirts in solid tan or black. Skirts must be no more than 4” above the knee, fit properly, be clean and free of stains and wrinkles, with no tears or frayed hems. Spandex, nylon or leather skirts are not allowed.
Only Company-issued baseball hats or visors may be worn. The brim of the hat must face forward.
Team members must wear black or tan shoes which are rubber-soled with a maximum one-inch heel, closed-toed, clean, and in good repair. For safety reasons, open-toed shoes are not allowed. Sport shoes in all black leather are acceptable. Socks or stockings must be worn.
All team members must wear a Company-provided full-length apron. It should be clean and wrinkle free. Only Company-provided pins and buttons are allowed to be worn on aprons.
Team members are provided with name tags which are to be worn on the upper left portion of the apron showing the team member’s name and designation. No other wording or information should be on the badge other than what is authorized by management. Wearing any pins, labels, or badges other than The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf logo items is prohibited.
Cardigan, v-neck or crew neck sweaters in solid black or white may be worn over The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf approved shirts. Sweaters must be clean and free of stains, with no tears or frayed hems.
Rings that protrude must be avoided as they could easily be damaged or caught in equipment. Men are not allowed to wear earrings. Women may wear a single earring in each ear. Earring may be clip-on or pierced and must be worn on the bottom of the earlobe. Earring must not exceed the size of a dime. No other pierced facial jewelry is allowed – nose, tongue, eyebrow, etc.
Hair must be trimmed, neat, clean, and free from excessive oils. If hair extends past the top of the collar, it must be tied back. All hairstyles must be professional in appearance. Unnatural looking colors are not allowed.
Sideburns may not extend past the bottom of the earlobe. Mustaches must be clean, neatly trimmed, and not extend over the upper lip or past the corners of the mouth. Beards and goatees are not permitted. All male team members must be cleanly shaven.
Make-up must be appropriate for the job and time of day; make-up, if used, must be applied in moderation and should convey a soft, natural appearance. Fingernail polish must be conservative in shade.
All fragrances – shaving lotions, perfumes, etc. – are not allowed in the work place as they can have a detrimental impact on the quality of our coffee.
